Mr Charles Evelyn
Simmons was born in Hampstead, London in 1879. He was educated at University
College School. From there he was articled to Mr Horace Field (1861 - 1948) and
worked as his assistant between 1903 - 05.
He established an independent
practise in 1905 and also worked in partnership with H Field until
1915.
He then worked as an assistant in the Ministry of Helath
Architect's Department until 1919.
After this he returned to practise
alone in Westminster until 1939 and then until his death in Barnet on March
31st 1959.
He was a Roman Catholic and his body is buried in Christ
Church.
He exhibted at the Royal Academy and
appeared in the 1914 edition of "Who's who in architecture."
